The church, which averaged between 60 and 80 for Sunday morning worship services before they met for online services, lost its worship center, sound room, office space and nursery. The fellowship hall received smoke damage.
A burned Bible was rescued from the lightning ignited fire that destroyed most of the facilities of the Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Dubach. The right side of the singed pages starts with Psalm 20, a prayer of Moses about the eternity of God and the frailty of man. Verses 1-2 read: “Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.”
Tipton said members plan to meet at 10:45 a.m. Sunday on the church parking lot for prayer.
