James Franklin Cole, former editor of the Baptist Message, died June 5 in Woodway, Texas. He was 93 years old. Cole served as the Message’s editor for 17 years (1958-1975) before leaving to become president of the Baylor Alumni Association and eventually the BAA’s executive director. A memorial service celebrating his life was held June 28 at Seventh & James Baptist Church.
Carole Carter, the wife of James E. Carter, assistant Executive Director of the LBC from 1977-1978, passed away June 22. She was 79. Graveside services were held June 26 at Centuries Memorial Cemetery in Shreveport.
Cindy Marie McPhearson, wife of Rick McPhearson, administrator at Mt Vernon Baptist Church, West Monroe, passed away June 24. She was 56. Services were held at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church on June 28 with interment at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington will host the 2nd annual “In God We Trust” rally on July 4, from 1-4 p.m. at the Bossier Sheriff’s Office in Bossier City. This free event will feature hot dogs and drinks for all, plenty of children’s activities and patriotic and God-lifting music.
