This was my second year to be in LBAYSC. And both years were fantastic because each one served a different purpose for me, and both were unique. As for this year, there is one thing that has not left my mind because for me personally, it was the best part of the trip. On Monday, June 29th, we went to Southern Peaks detention center. That may not sound like it would be the best place we went, but God moved in those young men and women. When they walked in, they looked down, sad, lost, and unsure of what their future might hold. Some of them were eleven, some were almost twenty. I’m sure each one of them had a story to tell.
And they’ve probably been through things or done things we could never imagine. To tell you why this was the best part of the trip for me, it’s because when we sang the song, “For Such a Time as This” they understood the words. They could relate to that song. We poured that song out of our hearts and just let God use all of us as a way to reach them with the Gospel! The song talks about how we’ve been through such a time where it was hard, and maybe we got hurt, but God put us there for a reason.
A reason we may not understand but He knows! And we trust in Him through such a time because He will be there with us all the way! If you could have seen some of the faces of tears and smiles, you would know without a doubt that God was in that place. He was working at those young men and women’s hearts. And to know that we were God’s children who got to personally deliver the Message…… that was the best part.

To me, the best part would have to be going up Pikes Peak on the cog railway. It took a while to get up there, but it was worth it. During the rides up and down and while standing on top of the mountain, we could see a lot of God’s beautiful creation. They said that we could see all the way out to Kansas. It was AMAZING!

I got a lot out of LBAYSC. This is my third year on this tour and it was awesome! I learned a lot about God and how He works. One of the main things I learned is how the songs can be life changing. At one of the places we wenNothing in the world can compare to what I saw on our LBASYC trip this year. God’s hand was so visibly stretched over us. We were given the awesome opportunity to minister to the people beforehand through the gift of Subway sandwiches. It’s just like Jesus did! We got to know the people and serve the people before we were able to minister to them. People admitted they had not come to the park in over twenty years and “just decided” to come out on the lovely day- The day we happened to sing. That’s God. That’s not fate or coincidence. That is truly the work of God playing a part in people’s lives. As a young person we aren’t given these opportunities very often and we don’t feel comfortable doing it alone in our hometown where people will remember us. But as a group, as a choir, we grow strong together. We’re there for each other for the awkward moments, for the people who hate us for spreading God’s love. Together we are one body.

t to we couldn’t speak with the people there. One of the songs “For Such a Time As This” really spoke to me there. I knew that God had sent us to that place to sing to those people. We had been placed there for a reason. I thank God for another great trip.

The best part of LBASYC is not a specific place or concert for me. It is that feeling you get when you know you are doing something great for God and His Kingdom. It’s hard to describe, but it makes you so on fire for God that you just want to tour and sing these songs with these great people forever.

When I think of this year’s All-State trip I think of “Twisted M.” After our concert in Acacia Park a few of my friends and I got to talk to a man named Twisted M. Several minutes into the conversation we asked him if he had any prayer requests. His request was for God to reveal Himself to him so he would believe. This really stuck out in my mind because even though Twisted M has had a terrible life he is willing to believe, he just wants proof.

The best part of LBASYC for me is the friendships that are formed. As you travel with the group, you really become one big family, and because we are all pursuing God and spreading His word together, the bonds between us all are greatly strengthened. I have met some amazing friends on the trip that I hope to keep forever.
