PINEVILLE, La. (LCU News) – Ahead of October’s Homecoming festivities, Louisiana Christian University has announced its Distinguished Alumni winners and Hall of Fame inductees.
These individuals exemplify excellence and innovation in their careers while proudly representing LCU, according to an e-mail from LCU. This year’s “Home on the Hill” Homecoming festivities are scheduled for Oct. 18-19.
DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI
Gene Steen (class of 1979)
Steen has held several management positions within Air Liquide America and the Lincoln Electric Company. Upon retirement, Steen has served as head football and basketball coach at LaSalle Junior High School. He and his wife, Janis (class of 1977), continue to serve Christ through mission trips and home Bible study groups.
Ray Baxter (class of 1974)
Baxter is a senior partner at Baxter Law. He served as Saline County juvenile judge, secretary chair for the Democrat Party of Saline County and Benton city council member. Additionally, Baxter has been appointed by two different governors to serve on the Arkansas Supreme Court and he once handled the largest single plaintiff recovery in Arkansas.
Richard Setliff (class of 1973)
Setliff is the former vice president with Tudor Construction, Alexandria. He previously served as vice president with Maps LLC as vice president project executive. His and his wife, Beverly (class of 1976), are active members of their church.
HALL OF FAME
Lucas Ledbetter (1992-2002)
During his time as a member of the Wildcats’ baseball team, Ledbetter earned All-Southwest Conference eastern division honorable mention in 2001 and 2002, and was named ASC eastern division pitcher of the week for two separate weeks. Upon graduation, Ledbetter joined the Navy and later played professional baseball for the American Defenders in New Hampshire.
Mattie Stine (2015-2018)
Stine took home numerous awards as a member of the softball team, including All-Louisiana First Team, All-ASC Second Team and ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor. During the 2016 conference tournament, Stine earned All-Tournament Team honors.
Natosha Gottlieb (2009-2013)
While a member of the women’s basketball team, in 2012, Gottlieb was named as a Women’s Basketball Coaches Association First Team All-American, D3hoops.com Second Team All-American and South Region Player of the Year; All-Louisiana First Team; and ASC Scholar Athlete Medal of Honor, Women’s Basketball Distinguished Scholar Athlete and Academic Honor Roll. She also finished 23rd in the NCAA for steals per game. The following season, she was named ASC eastern division Defensive Player of the Year, First-Team All-ASC eastern division and conference eastern division all-defensive team.
