REMEMBERANCE
Roy L. Johnson, 90, went to be with our Lord on July 29, 2023. Funeral services for Johnson were held on August 5, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. at Diamond Baptist Church, DeRidder, with Bill Smith and Paul Massey officiating. Interment followed at Lewis Cemetery in DeRidder. Johnson was born to Mr. and Mrs. Roy A. Johnson on November 19, 1932. He graduated from DeRidder High School in 1951. He married the love of his life, Myrtle June Brewer Johnson on June 3, 1953. He graduated from Louisiana College in 1954 and received a Masters of Divinity at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1957. Johnson pastored at Cile Baptist Church, Green Oak Baptist Church, Memorial Baptist Church, Burkeville Baptist Church, Little Cypress Baptist Church, Temple Baptist Church, and Cypress Creek Baptist Church. He was a long-time Director of Missions (April 1991 through August 2000) at the Beauregard Baptist Association. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, nine months, Myrtle June Johnson, his parents Roy A. Johnson, and Atlas Johnson, a daughter, Pamela June Johnson Melder, and a daughter-in-law, Joylynn (Lee). Left to cherish his memory are sons John (Diana), and Lee (JoAnn), and son-in-law Allen Melder (Frieda), five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
