IN REMEMBRANCE
Nikolai Alexandrenko, 92, passed away Feb. 3. Alexandrenko was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Frances Alexandrenko and a daughter, Lydia. Services were held at Trinity Baptist Church in Pineville on Feb. 7 and interment was in the church cemetery. He was born in Kletnya, Russia on May 7, 1922. In 1930, under Stalin, his family was collectivized, gave up their farm and moved to Bryansk. The farm was moved to Ukraine where he attended school until he joined the Russian Army in 1940. Alexandrenko was promoted to Lieutenant, moved to Moscow in 1941 and given command of a brigade in 1942. He was wounded and captured in 1943 and imprisoned near Munich, Germany until his release. As a refugee near Munich he joined the Baptist Mission and served as a preacher to refugees. In 1951 he was brought to Louisiana College by the Baptist Student Union where he was given a scholarship. After graduating from LC, he enrolled at the New Orleans Baptist Seminary and Tulane University graduating with Masters and Doctorates in Theology and Classical Languages. He returned to Louisiana College where he taught Languages, Theology and the Bible. He retired in 1989. He is survived by three sons, three daughters, 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
