Ed ministers gather for annual meeting, do away with dues

When ministers of education in Louisiana Baptist churches gathered recently at First Baptist Lafayette for the LBREA annual meeting, they heard from two high-powered guest speakers, elected officers for the next year and enjoyed the hospitality of a Cajun meal provided by the church’s cooks.

More than 2,900 spiritual decisions were recorded, nearly 2,000 people were treated medically and three churches were built during the 2008 mission trip to Brazil led by Wayne Jenkins. This year is the 25th time Jenkins is taking a mission team to Brazil; he says he is expecting God to once again pour out His blessings.

College students presented a biblical world view at CEC

With 825 students in attendance Feb. 6-7, the Collegiate Evangelism Conference – CEC – at Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria increased in number by 200 from last year, reported Janet Williams, administrative assistant with the Louisiana Baptist Convention’s Collegiate Ministry department.
