With so many bills being signed by Governor Jindal, at the close of the 2009 Legislative Session, one got by all of us who serve as family advocates.  

I am honored to serve as chairman of the Louisiana Baptist Convention’s Moral and Social Concerns Committee.  I am encouraged each time I meet with this committee.

I want to thank Pastor Louis Husser for his letter encouraging more prayer and participation at our capitol in Baton Rouge.

As I read the April 16 issue of the Baptist Message, the article about Sagemont Baptist Church in Houston immediately caught my attention.

Recently the Moral and Social Concerns Committee of the LBC met in Alexandria. During the working lunch time we launched a new effort to make a spiritual connection and have a direct impact on what takes place at the State Capitol.

This concerns the letter in the June 5 issue of the Baptist Message concerning the loss of contributions to the retirement program and the loss of $17.50 matching contributions to GuideStone retirement accounts.

For centuries Christians have observed the crucifixion of Jesus as being on Friday afternoon and the resurrection at dawn the following Sunday.

Recently, I was speaking with the wait staff of one restaurant and was surprised to learn that most customers leaving gospel tracts do not bother to leave a tip.
