Six Baptists have received the annual Louisiana Moral and Civic
Foundation awards for helping to “provide, promote and protect a positive
moral climate for Louisiana.”
As in previous years, awards were given in the fields of business,
communications, law enforcement, public service and preaching, said Ken Ward,
executive director of the foundation.

The awards program was launched by the foundation in 1980.
Each award recipient is chosen from submitted nominees by the foundation board.
This years Louisiana Baptist recipients include:
Robert Bolton. Bolton received the W.L. “Bill”
May Christian Businessman Award. The award is named for May, a respected businessman
who also served as the third president of the foundation and its first lay leader.
Bolton is a longtime, respected businessman in the Central Louisiana community.
He is a member at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Alexandria.
Greg Clark. Clark received the J.D. Grey Preaching Award.
The award is named for longtime Louisiana Baptist pastor Grey, who also was
the founder of the Louisiana Moral and Civic Foundation. Clark is pastor at
Cedar Crest Baptist Church in West Monroe.
B.G. Dyess. Dyess received the G.O. McGuffee Public Servant
Award. The award is named for McGuffee, who spent more than 50 years as a distinguished
public servant. Dyess is pastor at Flactor Baptist Church in Leesville. But
he also has spent several decades as a public servant, including a recent stint
as a Louisiana state senator.
Robert McCullough. McCullough received the Mr. and Mrs.
J.H. Cain Law Enforcement Award. The award is named for the Cains, who served
as sheriff and chief office deputy in Beauregard Parish for many years. McCullough
has served in the Beauregard Parish Sheriffs Office for almost 25 years,
currently as chief deputy. He is a member at First Baptist Church of DeRidder.
George Morris. Morris received the Lynn P. Clayton Christian
Communicator Award. The award is named for the current editor of the Louisiana
Baptist Message newspaper. Morris is a features writer with the Baton Rouge
Advocate newspaper and is a member at First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge.
Huey Wilson. Wilson received the W.L. “Bill” May
Christian Businessman Award. The award is named for May, a respected businessman
who also served as the third president of the foundation and its first lay leader.
Wilson has been a longtime, respected businessman in Baton Rouge for decades
and is a member at Sherwood Baptist Church in Baton Rouge.
