‘Kids need a mom and dad’ shouldn’t be controversial

According to the Declaration of Independence, our Founding Fathers held certain truths to be self-evident. By my understanding, that means there are some things we agree are true even if millions of dollars are not spent to study the subject. For many of us, that list would include the idea that drugs are bad, nice people have more friends, and that it’s a good thing for kids to have a mom and dad.
