New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS) recently announced the Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 class schedules for graduate and undergraduate students studying at the seminary’s Louisiana extension centers.
Central Louisiana extension center
NOBTS will offer the following graduate courses at its Central Louisiana extension center, which meets on the campus of Louisiana College. Classes meet on Mondays:
• Fall 2011 — Spiritual Formation 1 (8 to 9 a.m.), Greek Grammar (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.), Adult Ministry (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.), Exploring the Old Testament (1 to 4 p.m.), Baptist Heritage (4 to 6 p.m.)
• Spring 2012 — Intermediate Greek Grammar for Exegesis (8 to 11 a.m.), Pastoral Ministry (12 to 3 p.m.), Exploring the New Testament (3 to 6 p.m.), Spiritual Formation 2 (6 to 7 p.m.), Teaching the Bible (7 to 10 p.m.)
North Louisiana extension center
NOBTS will offer the following graduate courses at its North Louisiana extension center, which meets at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport. Classes meet on Mondays:
• Fall 2011 — Greek Grammar 1 (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.), Spiritual Formation 1 (12 to 1 p.m.), Exploring the Old Testament (1 to 4 p.m.), Baptist Heritage (4 to 6 p.m.)
• Spring 2012 — Intermediate Greek Grammar for Exegesis (8 to 11 a.m.), Spiritual Formation 2 (11 a.m. to 12 p.m.), Pastoral Ministry (1 to 4 p.m.), Exploring the New Testament (5 to 8 p.m.)
The following undergraduate courses will be offered on Thursdays at the seminary’s North Louisiana extension center:
• Fall 2011 — Personal Spiritual Disciplines (8 to 9 a.m.), Introduction to Preaching (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.), Building Healthy Church Relationships (1 to 4 p.m.), New Testament Word Studies (5 to 8 p.m.)
• Spring 2012 — Personal Spiritual Disciplines (8 to 9 a.m.), Worship Perspectives (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.), Practice of Evangelism (1 to 4 p.m.), Southern Baptist Life (5 to 8 p.m.)
Southwest Louisiana extension center
NOBTS will offer the following graduate courses at its Southwest Louisiana extension center, which meets at East Bayou Baptist Church in Lafayette. Classes meet on Mondays:
• Fall 2011 — Spiritual Formation 1 (12 to 1 p.m.), Proclaiming the Bible (1 to 4 p.m.), Pastoral Ministry (4 to 7 p.m.), Church Leadership and Administration (7 to 10 p.m.)
• Spring 2012 — Spiritual Formation 2 (12 to 1 p.m.), Preaching Practicum (1 to 3 p.m.), Church Revitalization (3 to 5 p.m.), Pastoral Leadership (5 to 8 p.m.)
The following undergraduate courses will be offered on Mondays at the seminary’s Southwest Louisiana extension center:
• Fall 2011 — Personal Spiritual Disciplines (12 to 1 p.m.), Old Testament Survey (1 to 4 p.m.), Introduction to Preaching (4 to 7 p.m.), Integrating Academics and Ministry (7 to 10 p.m.)
• Spring 2012 — Personal Spiritual Disciplines (12 to 1 p.m.), Introduction to Counseling (1 to 4 p.m.), New Testament Survey (4 to 7 p.m.), Introduction to Christian Education (7 to 10 p.m.)
Baton Rouge extension center
NOBTS will offer the following undergraduate courses at its Baton Rouge extension center, which meets at the Baptist Association of Greater Baton Rouge office. Classes meet on Mondays and Thursdays:
• Fall 2011 — Marriage and Family Issues (2 to 5 p.m. Monday), Personal Spiritual Disciplines (5 to 6 p.m. Monday), New Testament Survey (6 to 9 p.m. Monday), Introduction to Preaching (6 to 9 p.m. Thursday)
• Spring 2012 — Preaching from Galatians, 1 and 2 Thessalonians (2 to 5 p.m. Monday), Old Testament Survey (6 to 9 p.m. Monday), Personal Spiritual Disciplines (5 to 6 p.m. Thursday), Introduction to Ministry (6 to 9 p.m. Thursday)
The NOBTS extension center system grows out of the seminary’s commitment to make theological education as accessible as possible to as many God-called men and women as possible. To that end, New Orleans Seminary also offers hybrid classes that meet four times a semester at the New Orleans campus, thus minimizing the commute for long-distance students. Hybrid classes are supplemented by Internet coursework.
