Louisiana Baptists have been invited to submit names of nominees for service
on state convention boards and committees and to submit resolutions for possible
consideration at the 2003 Louisiana Baptist Convention.

The LBC Committee on Committees is beginning work to nominate persons to serve
on various state convention committees. Currently, 22 nominees are needed for
service on committees on convention arrangements, credentials, Louisiana Baptist
history, moral and social concerns, nominations, order of business and resolutions.
Committee on Committees chair is Ken Fryer, minister of music at Milldale Baptist
Church in Zachary.

Also, the LBC Committee on Nominations is beginning work to fill vacancies
on state boards. At this point, 18 nominees are needed to serve on the state
executive board and as trustees of Louisiana College, the Louisiana Baptist
Children’s Home, the Louisiana Baptist Message, the Louisiana Baptist Foundation
and the Baptist Retirement Center. The Committee on Nominations chair is Darryl
Hoychick, pastor at Trinity Baptist Church in Pineville.

As in previous years, persons should submit names of nominees and the committee
or board for which they are being nominated. Submissions should include information
on the nominee’s church membership and current employment.

Nominations should be submitted no later than August 8. Nominees for convention
committees should be sent to Fryer at 2359 St. Andrews Ave., Zachary, LA 70791.

Nominees for boards should be sent to Hoychick at Trinity Baptist Church,
3905 Trinity Church Road, Pineville, LA 71360.

Also, persons interested in submitting resolutions for this fall’s state convention
are asked to submit their statements by August 1. Early submissions will allow
the LBC Resolutions Committee to begin its work to determine which resolutions
to present to the convention. Resolutions Committee Chair is Aubrey Foster,
pastor at Brownfields Baptist Church in Baton Rouge.

Persons should mail proposed resolutions through the LBC executive office at
P. O. Box 311, Alexandria, LA 71309, fax them to (318) 449-4287, or e-mail them
to carolyn.sterne@lbc.org.

Pursue Christ, pursue contentment

By Steve Horn I read somewhere this week that our society suffers from “inextinguishable discontent.” We are on a perpetual quest for more or better. We want a better job, a better boss, a better wage, or a better retirement plan. We want a better marriage or a better spouse. We want a better car, a better … Continue Reading.
