During the 166th Annual Meeting of the Louisiana Baptist Convention motions were made concerning our Executive Director, David Hankins.
In brief, both motions sought to abolish the voting privileges of Dr. Hankins on the board of trustees for Louisiana College as an ex officio member.
What this boils down to is an attempt to extinguish the voice and the vote of our Executive Director.
I appreciate any Louisiana Baptists’ right to disagree with and even protest the decisions of any board. But, if Louisiana Baptists have an Executive Director that can’t be trusted to give influence, then the matter is much larger than motions about procedure.
I believe David Hankins has proven himself trustworthy time and again.
He is doing the job Louisiana Baptists have asked him to do with fairness and accountability.
When I moved to Louisiana from Georgia, I was somewhat concerned because I knew little about the LBC. But, I knew Dr. Hankins. I had spent time with him and knew his track record.
Since I have been here, I have found Dr. Hankins to be a good leader, just as he has always been.
I believe the overwhelming majority of Louisiana Baptists feel the same way. We trust David Hankins and desire neither his voice nor his vote be diminished.
I am not suggesting Hankins is perfect or that we must agree on every single issue, but he is a man who loves the Lord and seeks His face. Dr. Hankins is the Louisiana Baptist Executive Director and I welcome his voice and his vote.

I will stand with Ted Cruz, U.S. Senator, from Texas. Senator Cruz speaks for you, me, and all Americans.
When both of our major political parties are against what he says, and truly stands for, he has to be right.
A quote from one of our great American founders, Thomas Jefferson, said, “I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”
Talk about a foresighted, knowledgeable prediction, this is it for us today.
If we, America, would only steadfastly stay with our own American constitution, and acknowledge God, our Creator, our America will rise again.
What did we fight World War II for?
We fought our American way of life under God, our one and only U.S. Constitution and freedom.
Senator Cruz is one of the few in our present Congress that will stand for all of us, regardless of political party.
I will stand with God and Senator Cruz. You can stand with whomever you choose.
I am Tea Party.
