ALEXANDRIA – Baptist Message Editor Kelly Boggs and
Louisiana Baptist Foundation Executive Director Wayne Taylor said
recently that history is in the making as ministers and laymen from
across Louisiana find their way to Cypress Bend Golf Resort on Toledo
Bend Lake for a two-day golf event May 8 and 9.
The tournament is to be the first jointly-sponsored
event between the two Louisiana Baptist Convention agencies, and
promises to be even better than its previous 24 or more tourneys.
Boggs and Taylor assure registrants that the sights and sounds from the
surrounding lake and natural wildlife habitats in the woodlands at the
resort are most inviting.
“Those who have previously participated in
tournaments at this breathtaking location look forward to returning and
first timers will enjoy the superior course and accommodations,” Boggs
said. “These will be a lingering memory for all who attend.”
The sponsors also said the great old Scottish and
Irish links may have historical significance, and may be considered by
some golfers as hallowed ground, but the Cypress Bent resort and course
will offer some of the same challenges and scenery – lush greens,
ingenious design and breathtaking views of the water and surrounding
habitat.
The men also noted the memorable par-3s and
formidable tee shots all around the course, with opportunities to play
every type of shot.
“These golf tourneys are a wonderful opportunity for
fun and fellowship,” said Larry Thompson, pastor at First Baptist
Church of Westlake. “I look forward to meeting in a relaxed
setting during medalist play on the first day and scramble on the
second day.”
