Twenty-nine Louisiana Baptist churches in Big Creek Association
will conduct three-night simultaneous revivals at four locations. The revivals
are set for Sept. 12-14 in three school auditoriums and one church.
The 29 churches participating in the revivals began planning
the “cluster revivals” last year. The churches divided into four different
regions in Grant Parish. Leaders in each region were responsible for assembling
the evangelists and music for their revival.
“We felt we needed, as Baptists, to make a statement in
Grant Parish and felt the best way to show unity was to hold these revivals
together,” says Leonard Free, evangelism director for the Big Creek association
and pastor at New Prospect Baptist Church in Dry Prong. “This represents
a fellowship between churches. Were all in this together to show were
not in competition but are here to win this parish for the Lord.”
The sites hosting revivals are:
Montgomery High School in the Northwest region.
Jerry Chaddick, pastor at Highland Baptist Church in Laurel, Miss., is scheduled
to serve as the evangelist, and Mackey Willis, music evangelist from DeRidder,
is set as the music minister. The revival at Montgomery High auditorium is planned
Friday through Sunday at 7 p.m.
Bethel Baptist Church in Colfax in the Southwest
region. Herb Dickerson, Big Creek director of missions, is scheduled as the
evangelist, and Jonathan Murrell, minister of music and activities at Bethel
Baptist Church is set as the music minister. The revival at Bethels family
life center is planned for Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 6 p.m.
Georgetown High School in the Northeast region.
Richard DeBusk, interim pastor at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Winnfield, is
scheduled to serve as the evangelist, with area churches to provide the music.
The revival at Georgetown High is planned each night at 7 p.m.
Dry Prong Jr. High School in the Central region.
Philip Robertson, pastor at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Deville, is scheduled
as the evangelist, and Mark Tullos Sr., music evangelist from Tioga, is set
as the music minister. The revival at Dry Prong Jr. High is set each night at
7 p.m.
Counselors have been enlisted for those who make decisions
to accept Christ as their personal savior or to rededicate their lives to Christ.
The Louisiana Baptist Convention Department of Evangelism taught a soul-winning
class to Louisiana Baptists in the association, and counselors also received
individual training.
After the revival, the association plans to mail letters to churches that are
closest in proximity to individuals who make decisions for Christ. Those churches
then can follow-up with that particular individual.
