The presidents of three Southern Baptist Convention entities will speak at the Southern Baptist Conference of Associational Directors of Missions’ June 8-9 annual meeting in Indianapolis, featuring the theme “Growing the Kingdom, Church by Church.”
INDIANAPOLIS (BP) – The presidents of three Southern Baptist Convention entities will speak at the Southern Baptist Conference of Associational Directors of Missions’ June 8-9 annual meeting in Indianapolis, featuring the theme “Growing the Kingdom, Church by Church.”
The meeting, the organization’s 46th, will begin with a worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 8, at the Sheraton City Centre, with Jim Futral, executive director-treasurer of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board, preaching. The service will be followed by a lunch at noon (meal ticket required) sponsored by GuideStone Financial Resources.
At 1 p.m., the first of three sessions of the SBCADOM meeting will begin. Also at 1 p.m., the SBCADOM wives meeting will take place with the theme of “Joy In the Midst of It All.”
The SBCADOM’s first session will focus on the theme of “Growing Simple Churches,” with Thom S. Rainer, president of LifeWay Christian Resourses, and Russell Cook, SBCADOM president and director of missions of the Pottawatomie Lincoln Baptist Association in Shawnee, Okla., speaking.
GuideStone Financial Resources President O.S. Hawkins will preach at the second session: “Growing Confessional Churches.”
North American Mission Board President Geoff Hammond will preach on “Growing Churches in North America” during the session on “Growing Great Commission Churches.”
Related activities include a DOM and wives luncheon, a luncheon for retired associational workers and an orientation for new DOMs.
INDIANAPOLIS (BP) – The North American Mission Board will host a national Hispanic celebration on Sunday, June 8, from 6-9 pm at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown in Marriott Ballrooms 5 and 6 on Level 2.
NAMB President Geoff Hammond and Louisiana pastor Gonzalo Rodriguez of Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Metairie, will be the featured speakers. The theme of the gathering is “Living With Urgency.”
On Monday morning, NAMB also will host a Hispanic pastors and leaders conference. Rene Pereira, pastor of Iglesia Bautista Glenview in Puerto Rico, and Richard Vera, the California Southern Baptist Convention’s multiethnic evangelism specialist, will be the featured speakers.
The June 9 conference, from 8 a.m. to noon, will be held in Room 209 of the Indiana Convention Center. A continental breakfast is included.

On Sunday, June 8, Hispanic churches in the Indianapolis area will welcome SBC messengers and guests to their worship services.
At 2 p.m., the National Hispanic Fellowship will convene for its annual administrative meeting at a yet-to-be determined church location.
No Hispanic-related events have been planned for Sunday night so that all Hispanic pastors, leaders and church members can participate in the SBC Pastors’ Conference.
On Monday, June 9, members of the national Hispanic fellowship will meet in the SBC prayer room for a time of prayer for the SBC, missionaries, pastors and messengers to the annual meeting.
