ALEXANDRIA – The 2010 Louisiana Baptist Golf Fellowship Fall Tournament recently hosted its two-day event at Links on the Bayou Golf Course in Alexandria. The tournament is co-sponsored by the Louisiana Baptist Message and the Louisiana Baptist Foundation.
Monday medalist play presented an opportunity to play the round with friends or acquaintances, making it a special time of fellowship as well as presenting challenges.
“The greatness of God and the beauty that He has created in His world is re-emphasized during play,” one pastor said.
Winners of this event were recorded in the following categories by ministers and laymen. The grand champion winner was Ples Cripps of Dry Prong, a layman.

Championship flight: Jim Phaup, Zwolle, first place; Jerry Pipes, Alpharetta, Ga., second place; Harry Forester, Shreveport, third place.
First flight: Brian Rankin, Tullos, first place; John Hebert, Pineville, second place; Don Mabry, Alexandria, third place.
Second flight: Sean Keith, Pineville, first place; Tim Hisaw, Tioga, second place; Greg Green, West Monroe, third place.
Third flight: Joey Williams, Hornbeck, first place; Al Marks, Eunice, second place; Beau Colle, Pineville, third place.
Winners in the layman’s division were:
Championship flight: Ples Cripps, Dry Prong, first place; Ken Nichols, Pitkin, second place; Shell Stephenson, Shreveport, third place.
First Flight: Danny Wilburn, Pineville, first place; Derrick Cantu, Alexandria, second place; Wayne Tanner, Leesville, third place.
Second Flight: Charles McGuire, Tullos, first place; Harley Croff, Shreveport, second place; Frank Snyder, Westlake, third place.
Third Flight: Jason Carroll, Columbia, first place; Billy James, Alexandria, second place; James Travis, Columbia, third place.
Longest drive competition winners were Jerry Pipes, Alpharetta, Ga. and Derrick Cantu, Alexandria.
Closest to the pin competition winners were Ken Nichols, Pitkin and Brian Rankin, Tullos.
Super Seniors tournament winners were Tony Brannon, DeRidder, first place; Diz Smith, DeRidder, second place; Jim Phaup, Zwolle, third place.
Super Seniors longest-drive competition winners were Tony Brannon, DeRidder and Diz Smith, DeRidder.
Super Seniors Closest to the pin competition winners were Harry Forester, Shreveport and Frank Snyder, Westlake.
Tuesday’s scramble play offered an opportunity to get to know men from different churches around the state who banded together and played as a team using one of their four shots most advantageous for the team.
The coordinated effort produced the following winners:
First place team: Tony Brannon, DeRidder; Chase Cripps, Deville; Glen Pennington, Pride.
Second place team: Scott Smith, Tullos; Brian Rankin, Tullos; Tim Hisaw, Tioga; Joey Williams, Hornbeck.
Third place team: Derrick Cantu, Alexandria; James Doxey, Pitkin; Bob Hughes, Shreveport; Eric Harriman, Columbia.
The traveling church team trophy was won by First Baptist Church, DeRidder. Members of that team were Diz Smith, Jerry Istre, Dennis Milsap, Tony Brannon.
Trophies and generous door prizes were awarded at a Monday evening banquet emceed by Jerry Love of the Louisiana Baptist Foundation.
